In this session, Karl Vaters will share some universal small church principles, including how to discover and leverage what is different about your congregation, how to better utilize your pastoral gifts and calling, and how to have a big impact even if your congregation may have a small imprint.
Alan Smith — Church Renovation Requires Compelling Design
The Theology behind the creative arts will guide a church to renovation and revitalization. Communicating the Gospel to a culture that is influenced through media and visuals demands the church use compelling designs. This session will examine the theological basis for design and how to implement design in the church renovation and revitalization process.
Don Wilhite — Revitalization During the Interim Period
Don served as the pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, in Columbus, for almost 40 years. Under his leadership, the church saw great growth and expansion. Numerous ministries were developed during his tenure at Calvary. Since his retirement as Senior Pastor in 2014, he has been serving as a transitional pastor for various churches. He has been able to assist the churches in renewing their vision and revitalizing the ministry as they prepare to call a new pastor.
Jason Rogers — Renovation Through Diversity
Jason is the Executive Pastor at Calvary Baptist of Columbus. He was licensed into the Gospel Ministry in 2002. He holds a Master’s Degree in Organizational Management with a specialization in Leadership. Additionally, he holds a BS in Psychology.
“Renovate With Diversity” will be a brutally honest look at the state of the church today. We will ask the hard questions and seek the truth about ourselves. This is not a workshop to discuss good sentiment. We must realize that actions matter. In this session, we will discuss what to do, in order to Renovate, Revitalize and Renew our views, ideology, intentions, and efforts towards diversity.
Matt Stephens — What is Church Replanting?
Matt is the Lead Pastor of The Fort Church in Columbus, GA. He has successfully led in several church replants. Each year thousands of churches hold their final services and close their doors. The vast majority of these churches are in communities that desperately need a gospel witness. In the midst of this tragedy there is hope. Hope is found in the power of the gospel and strategic partnerships to replant these dying churches for God’s glory. In this breakout we will learn the different types of replants and how God is using creative partnerships to bring new life to churches. This breakout will be of interest both to churches that are in decline and to those that are looking to expand their mission by partnering with churches who need help.
Mark Merrill — Church Revitalization: Restoring Body Health
Dr. Mark Merrill serves as District Superintendent of the Georgia Assemblies of God. This workshop will help to diagnose areas within the church that need strengthening from an understanding of the Apostle Paul’s metaphor of the church as a human body.
